Duwamish River Slip 4 is an Ecology Assessment Area on the Lower Duwamish Waterway that received contamination through two distinct industrial pathways: stormwater discharges from Boeing's North Boeing Field (Boeing Plant 2) carrying PCBs, metals, organic compounds, and petroleum products into the slip, and a Georgetown Steam Plant flume structure — filled with PCB-contaminated sediments and surrounded by PCB-contaminated soils — that was physically removed in 2009. Cleanup work has included excavation of 10,256 cubic yards of contaminated sediment and soil, capping and habitat restoration, source-control measures comprising the flume removal and excavation of PCB- and TPH-contaminated soils from adjacent properties, and installation of a long-term stormwater treatment system for North Boeing Field runoff.
