This property served as a 7.3-acre construction contractor work area supporting the building of Detroit Dam from approximately 1947 through 1953, after which the work area was submerged within Big Cliff Reservoir. Sediment sampling conducted between 2009 and 2016 confirmed elevated levels of PCBs (Aroclors 1254 and 1260), metals, diesel-range and residual-range organics, and semi-volatile organic compounds in reservoir sediment. Oregon DEQ has assigned the site for oversight and classified it in early investigation status, with no remediation completed to date and recent DEQ activity recorded as of March 2026.
