This historic gold mine operated primarily from 1897 to 1904, leaving behind an estimated 16,500 cubic yards of tailings and waste rock across the property. EPA and Oregon DEQ investigations confirmed arsenic, chromium, mercury, and cyanide in soil, sediment, and surface water, with acid mine drainage from two collapsed adits continuing to discharge contaminated water into Fruit Creek.
